Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva Announce Major Benefits for Auto Drivers and Coolies
Delhi Auto Drivers Association and Delhi Divisional Coolie Union Submitted a Memorandum to Ashwini Vaishnaw for Fulfilling Their Demands

Saral News: New Delhi, January 7 : Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva met railway coolies and auto-cab drivers at the New Delhi Railway Station today to listen to their concerns.

A memorandum listing six demands from the Delhi Divisional Coolie Union and five demands from the Delhi Auto Drivers Association was submitted to the Railway Minister. Responding to one of the key demands to reduce parking charges for black-and-yellow taxis and auto-rickshaws, Shri Vaishnaw immediately announced reductions and assured the resolution of the remaining demands soon.
Present at the event were Municipal Councillor Shri Sandeep Kapoor, General Secretary of Delhi Auto Drivers Association Shri Rajendra Soni, auto drivers Shri Rohtash Kumar, Shri Kalu Ram Meena, Shri Rishi Pal, Shri Sandeep Kumar Arora, Shri Satyendra Jham, Shri Lal Bahadur, and others.
The primary demands of auto drivers included:
1. Reducing parking charges (₹1180 for black-and-yellow taxis and ₹708 for auto-rickshaws).
2. Halting entry fees charged by private contractors when entering railway premises.
3. Providing rest shelters to protect auto drivers from harsh weather.
4. Reallocating auto drivers to their original stands.
5. Preventing harassment by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
The Coolie Union’s six demands included:
1. Railway passes allowing coolies’ children two free journeys annually.
2. Healthcare facilities for coolies in railway hospitals.
3. Rest shelters for coolies.
4. Timely provision of uniforms twice a year.
5. A ₹15–20 lakh insurance cover if a coolie dies while on duty at the railway station.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw assured that the demands of the Coolie Union and auto drivers would be addressed promptly. He also announced the immediate reduction of auto-rickshaw parking charges from ₹708 to ₹200 and black-and-yellow taxi parking charges from ₹1180 to ₹400, with implementation taking effect immediately.
